Wonderful site. Hope you will do Clan Young. My grandfather, James Bowman Young came from Arbroath, Angus County on the eastern coast of Scotland. Today I found the Young crest at the Ardenwood Celtic Festival. It is very nice. Thank you for making such an informative sight for all of us.
Happy (belated) Birthday to a fellow Gemini! Sorry, I don't know your exact b-day date, but knew it fell around the beginning of June. Hope you had a great day. Maybe we'll see ya at the Campbell games.
To a good chief. Hope you had a great birthday, sorry i couldn't make it. Work calls and pays the bills. But alas i shall see you next weekend at Ardenwood.
Richard Brown, alias Diarmid Campbell, I hope you had a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. May this year be remembered as one of your best! I'm proud to call you cousin. I always enjoy my visit to your site.

Sorry for my bad english in advance! Your site and your group are fantastic. I'm very interested in Highlands since a long time. All books I can read about Highland et highlanders are illustrated by your photos. I think I lived in Highlands in another life. Good luck for the future. A french fan
Good Lord Dairmid, I am glad to know i will soon be a part of the highland warriors. I will email you all of my information.
I am looking for instructions and plans for making a targe. If anyone has any or knows where they can be found I would appreciate a response.
Hi Guys, love what your doing, I only wish that more folk here in Scotland were as proud of their heritage as you guys are, see us @ www.thesonsofscotland.co.uk, ALBA GU BRATH
Richard, I loved seeing you at the Ardenwood Tartan Day (2005) -- thanks for taking a picture with me! I am just beginning to look into my Scottish heritage, and I can't wait to find out more. Loved your website - the pictures were great fun to look through. I am completely transported by your poetry. It takes me to a place a would give anything to experience. Can't wait to see you at the Campbell games &/or Pleasanton!
I am writing a book and would like to obtain approval to use a photo from your archives for a small portion on the cover. Please let me hear from you asap. Thank you.
I have just found your website and enjoyed it very much! I am of Scotch/Irish background, my mother is a McKinney. I found your website very interesting and I am wanting to know more about getting involved in historical role play...Scottish dress and experiencing the games and watching the Highland Sword fighting. Funny...my son goes to Rolling Hills Middle School. Hopefully sometime in the near future your clan will be performing! I would love to see that. My family will definately be at the Campbell games this June. If you have any more current info on events coming soon I would love to hear of it! I am also planning a trip to Scotland and Ireland with a girlfriend this September. We plan to do a driving trip through the Highlands......... I enjoyed your pictures from your pilgrimage! Thanks for the Great Website! Lisa Saeger

I too am wondering what happened to Dale Trotter. We Trotters' have a powerful history. Glad there is a page attmepting to bring us together. It doesn't seem the Cheif of Trotter Clan at Mortanhall/Edinburgh is very interested in submitting tartan patterns.

I JUST FOUND YOUR SITE WHILE LOOKING FOR SWORD HANGERS FOR MY COLLECTION. I'M GLAD I DID. I LOOK FORWARD TO CHECKING OUT MORE OF THE SITE. MICHAEL ANDREW CRANE I.E. ( MAC ) FROM N.C.
Still trying to remember how to get to our member site...Perhaps I should change my name to "duh".
Aye. but they aren't all that bad. You just have to give the lads a wee bit of a chance. Then you learn that it is some of the ladies that are hard work! But I'm sure they love us anyways.
And I mustn't forget the bevy of beauteous lassies. The fairest in the land. Strong and hearty, also, to put up with the likes of these rogues.
Tis such a fine group of Celtic lads! How could a lass ever choose which is the most handsome. Sigh!!!! Aye, and ye all fight just a good as you look!
Thank you Diarmid. The pictures are great!
Hello David or Phelan Macgregor :) It was great seeing you at the renn faire in casa de fruta. sorry I didnt get to talk to you much and to say goodbye before we left. But I have some great pictures that I would like to send to you if you want them just email me and let me know. Bye for now!
Hey Diarmid! It's me, Malcom's (ex)girl. I'll be seeing you at fair next year, though, you can count on it. How about some pictures of us ladies? The warriors look very nice in their kilts, but what ever happened to those of us who help you look so good? Bye now!
Sorry, that was the wrong email before. (Left off the first name). Again, it was a pleasure and a suprise meeting your group. There is much attention given here in San Jose to Hispanic heritage and culture, (and to others as well), but it seems that little attention is given to Celtic culture and customs. (Of course, your group is an exception.) With 40% of the Californian population being Hispanic, it only makes sense that we would be witness to celebrations of Hispanic culture on a fairly regular basis. I'm not complaining about it -- I think it should be so. (In fact, I think there should probably be more of it.) But then besides the Hispanic culture, there are the Portugese festivals, and the Ren. Faire for the English, and other such events. And around the country we see some Irish, and Scottish, and Italian, and German culture as well. It's all good. And these things are all very positive, and we should have more of them. But I am Welsh. And perhaps I have just not been "plugged in", but it seems to me that I see just about nothing Welsh here. And when you consider how critical was Welsh resistance (against both Rome and the Anglo-Saxons) to the preservation of the Celtic culture into modern times, (which was almost made extinct, and if Edward could have had his way it would have been), you would think that Welsh people would have much more pride in being Welsh. So why don't we see it? I think that most people of Welsh descent, here in this land, are unaware that they are of Welsh descent, or that they have any heritage at all. They look with envy at the people of those other cultures, such as the Hispanic culture, when they embrace traditions. They see the celebration of the Mexicans here on Cinco de Mayo and think, "why doesn't my family have anything like that?" And so I was overjoyed at seeing your group. This is because I have never just "chanced upon" any group of Celtics at all, in any place, celebrating Celtic heritage. And, to have your group be so knowledgable, and sharing, and full of joy, and inclusive of the Welsh, well, it was startling for me. I am 43 years old. Glad I found you. W
I enjoyed meeting you and your group at that community-fest in S.San Jose. I missed the show, but your group was very nice and happy to share, so despite missing the show I felt as satisfied as I could. Thanks for being there. W
do the trotter's now have a clan tartan? if so, where can i find a sample? dale trotter was convenor a time ago. said our tartan was tweedside.. Dale no longer is available
Nice music on the home page! I told another cousin about this site. I am sure she will be as impressed as I am.
Richard, nice to see you enjoying the fruits of your long and difficult labors. Enjoy! Looking forward to Pleasanton, and seeing first hand your visage being put to use by MacTarnahan's.
The MacTarnahan's couldn't have picked a better Scott! You were wonderful unvailing the truck. Its hard to believe I'll see my cousin on bar coasters, T-shirts, Posters, bar taps and of course the TRUCK. Congratulations! Love you much!

Congratuations Cousin Richard, this is a great site! I can't wait to show it to my son, Eugene George Demers II. He already has a sword. I can see now a sewing project ahead. He will want me to appropriately clad him in the correct garb!
Very nice site. I enjoyed visiting it very much. Traditions are important, and we should be careful to guard them for our future generations. Without them America would certainly be a different place. Nice to see the attention to detail on your site, and to read in the comments that you do exhibitions for the Boy Scouts. Keep up the good work.

Here's to a good season for all of us.
Looken good Cuz! Love and miss you!
Hey, Hows it going? It has been awhile sense i last posted, or visited your site, anyway i want to wish you a happy easter, and to have a very happy spring. I hope this next moon finds you well.
I have a dumb question. One of the below comments used the word "gramercee." Does anyone know what that means? There is a reference to a "Gramercee County, North Carolina" on an annotated 1850 Charlotte County, VA census that I have (though I don't know if there is actually such a place). These are the only two uses of that word that I have found anywhere on the entire Internet. Thanks!
Wonderful images and artwork. I can't wait to see a live duel !! Nicole~
Sir Diarmid. Well I'd glad to see that things are better and may be on the mend. I understand that you were in some considerable pain at Calaveras. Sorry to hear that. But, all things told, at least it wasn't a stab wound. Hee hee.
You have done some wonderful things with you website!!! It looks awesome! Looking forward to seeing you and all at Shasta Highlands Renaissance & Celtic Faire. Take care, one and all.
Great site
The Pirot show for the Boy Scouts was excellent! Great job.
First let me say how much I enjoyed your web site. I was checking search engines The St. Andrew's Society of Pittsburgh web site, when I stumbled on your site quite by accident! (Some accidents can be verra fortunate things!) As a Campbell, the most exciting part for me was to discover the clan is so well represented! I attended the last two Clan Campbell gatherings in Nashville and Charleston, S.C.; unfortunately this year's is in Alaska, and much as I'd love to, chances are that I won't make it to that one. We are working on bringing the gathering to Pittsburgh in the not too distant future. Perhaps if we do, you and some of your warriors would like to enjoy the hospitality of the "Campbells of Pittsburgh!" We'd be proud to have you! Yours Aye, Cheryl Campbell
Can I a 13 year old boy, sword fight with older men? If 13 year old boys can't fight how old do you have to be? You guys have a cool website and your pictures look cool and even the fights.
Diarmid, Wishing you, family, and your mighty warriors the best during this holiday season. God grant you safe passage in life and in battle this forthcoming year. Your Loyal Friend and Confidant
It is nice to have a look at the well-loved Scotland where I spent almost three years and am missing it a lot. Merry X-mas & Happy New Year to all Highlanders! All the best wishes to Lt. Cdr. Diarmid Gunn with many thanks for his kind friendship.

Hello, I'm a Scot amongst sassenachs having moved from Elgin, Scotland, to Waltham Abbey, England :) and I'm hoping you'll forgive the intrusion. I'm attempting to bring my Scottish & English short stories to the attention of those most likely to be interested in reading them. Please read some of them for free at http:/www.adrifterslegacy.co.uk and maybe leave a wee message in my guestbook? Thank you.
Rick, I just visited your web site. It is really cool. I enjoyed visiting with you and talking about old times as well as the new. Hopefully we may talk again soon. Greg

Sir Campbell, we do hope that the conclusion of your fierce sword fight at Anderson on Sunday was to your liking. We were not privy aforehand to the what the nature of your punishments should be. We did so miss speaking with you, howsomever, betwixt the rain, the new proceedures and our own newness the hours of the day and the faces of those around us sped by. We will be in attendance at the Campbell Scottish Games and hope to converse then. But in the meantime, why was 6 afraid of 7? Marie Stuart
hey there richard, how you doing? Im fine and thanks for the information you gave me. you guys were great at the anderson river park and I want to study what you guys are doing. It will take me a long time to do but If I put my mind to it I can do anything well gotta go see ya.

Heloo Richard...I am thinking about you tonight while you at Anderson. Give us a call ..and let us know how it went.. gramercee... Lady B
I met your men at the Tartan Day Festival in Fremont. I'm in the process of aquiring a kilt and related stuff and had a million questions about that. The men welcomed me, a lowlander, into your tent with open arms and spent much time helping me with my questions. You put on a great show and are a cool bunch of guys to boot. See you at the Games! Thanks,Joe
I remember several years ago when Jeff Ramsdan (Clan McLeod), Charles Johnson and Kelly Brauning (Clan Donald) used to perform sword fights at the games. It was a tremendous draw for all ages, thoroughly engaging the youngsters, the next generation, in their Scottish heritage. I am so glad to see this happening again with the Highlander Warriors. I think you are doing a great service to the Scottish American community with your exciting performances, and I look forward to your next act!.
Intersting site found by accident. Good to see the blood of the gaels alive and well in the US of A. Not sure about the proliferation of Campbells though!

Excellent website..........Are there pictures or paintings of all the Earls that can be added?
Love the additions you have done!!!!
Great site. Look forward to having you as guests on TSPN TV on March 3.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Calaveras Celtic Faire
As someone of deep Scottish integrity and a branch from the Wallace Clan ancestry tree I must say that I was impressed with this site. There are not many sites that allow a person to learn about Scottish heritage and those that do exist are very vague. Thank you for giving those who are curious and interested an axcellent site and a base for their learning.
Great site. Keep up the great work, lest they never forget!
Aye the blood we share is of the same origins my brothers,.....Tartan.!
Aye the blood the same colour.................Tartan.....slange
Love the addition of the Warrior Profiles. Good work, you guys look pretty fierce.

Hello Richard!! The Web site is looking good!!! afreind
Dear Richard, I love your website -- But hey! How about representing the Ross clan on your Highlander Images page? They always were a pretty big clan. I suppose you are gradually doing them all and just haven't gotten round to doing the Ross clan yet. I see you haven't done the Wallace clan either. Probably others. Anyway -- good job! Thanks! Thomas R Holme (of the McNaughton and Ross clans)
A very informative and well structured site. Thank you for your strength and compassion for the fellow clansman. I do look forward to returning again and to whom it may interest,I have found a Documentory on the death of death of old king coil, story involving Hollingshed,Boethius and Buchanan dating back to 360 A.D. www.ayrshireroots.com/Genealogy/Historical/Old%20King%20Coil.htm
Warrior, I hope you will have more performances coming up soon. I thought the new ensemble featured on St. Andrews night was magnificent. Keep up the good work…you have the love and support of many!!
Nice logo!!!
Warrior, I admire your ability to remain professional and dignified in the midst of petty controversy surrounding your break from the "Highland Mercenaries". I think most of us fans can judge for ourselvs that true talent is not in a name, but in what you give of yourself. You have entertained us for years now and we are proud of your accomplishments. Stay strong and don't let the envy of a few get you down. A grateful fan.
Don't ever quit - you have something great going on!!!!
Loved your website! Searching for more information about my heritage. Appreciate anyone who can fill in the blanks. Love to all, Lori
love the new name. Look forward to seeing the new "Warriors" in action!!
The new solo image is an improvement to your site. I look forward to viewing upcoming events and pictures from recent battles. Kilted Lassie

What a great website!! You've inspired me to look into my Scottish heritage. Thanks honoring the Celtic way of life.

Interested in Targe #7---please let me know the pricing and shipping info on this piece.
I was doing some research, and I hit here mainly because I named by server diarmid.dalbaech.net.... I supposed I was looking to give it a name of it's own, rather than an actual hostname, but I'm glad that I ran across the site. I leave my hostname the way it is.... :) I wish you good health and spirits.
any site that promotes Scottish clans, their histories, and the history of Scotland, should be supported.Cheers

Just found you from the Utilikilts website. Hope our paths cross someday, and we can have a tune or two. I'll add a link from our website, www.celtictexas.com, to yours. Cheers.
Ok Mitchell,I said I would visit and you were right, I like it. And I'll be checking it out again. Thanks, I'll see you and Lisa around the homestead.
Nice to see some effort put into such a cool site! Will come back.
Hey Cambell,
I've seen the photos. Thanks. Oh yes, I found some more photos from Pleasanton ' 99. I will be sending them to you, shortly.
Richard, It was great meeting you and I looking forward to seeing your re-enactments. The evening was quite interesting and educational for me, who hasn't been around this kind of social event. I was a little uncomfortable at first, but met a lot of nice people that educated me on the processions and activities. I think the reason I felt uncomfortable was I had a short skirt on, instead of a long one. Thank you, for reading your poem to all of us, you are very talented. Thanks for your hospitality.
Love your web page, it gave me chills. Hopefully, I'll meet you at the 19th Annual Feast tomorrow.
Clansman of Clan Cian, San Jose, CA
Hope to see you both at the Queen Mary.
I checking out this site. It was really educational. I am proud of my Scottish heritage.
Hey, why has this site got my name as the URL?
I didn't think there would be many Diarmid's in the US
It was great to meet you guys at my brother's wedding. I am totally impressed with your commitment and ability for the task you have set yourselves. Keep it up, you guys are great!!

Let's all sing! The Romans come marching two by two. Hurrah. Hurrah. The Romans come marching two by two. Hurrah. Hurrah. The Romans come marching two by two, the Celt's will be there to run them through. And it will all be grand when the lads come marching home.
Can't wait for this new re-enactment to get off the ground! Aaahhhh, the hours and hours and hours I will spend writing the poetry to tell its story.
Delicious!
You have an interesting web site. I am just now getting in touch with my highland scottish roots. I have started writing poetry concerning social justice issues. Much to my surprise I have written a number of highland scottish poems. I am indeed being drawn back to my past. My younger brother and I will be planning a trip to Scotland next year. I'm mainly concerned with visiting the highlands. I was told by this spirit that dwells in me to return home. I would like to share some of this poetry any ideas. Take care, peace and love.
Mitchell suggested I visit, I'm in charge of the fallfest at Tracy Oct. 13th. We would love to be able to work you guys into the schedule but it is only a 4 hour event, so one show is likely all we can do.
My first visit, my lords, and I am most impressed. A delightful collection of information, portraits and links. I shall mark these pages well and return to them often. I commend thee on thy goodly works and do look forward to seeing thee both in person quite soon!!

Greetings from the House of the Earl of Desmond and his representative in the Court of Mary Stuart. While I will be cheering McClellan this season my daughter Brid will be cheering for Campbell. Hope to see you this weekend.
As President of Clan MacLellan, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Michael McLelland to Clan MacLellan. The editor of Think On ran an excellent article on the "Dueling Scottish Duo." I do not know if you are a member of Clan MacLellan, if not we would be more than honored to have you as a member.
Thanks for spreading the word that there is a Clan MacLelan and it is alive and well.
Good luck in all your future endeavors.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this website when you handed me your card at Red Lobster. I must say that I was imprest and I plan on sharing your website with some of my co-workers who are Scottish.
Richard, This is one great site. I've sent it off to my aunt. She is going to love it. I'm heading to the links right now. See you at work tomorrow. Mike. p.s. the 0's in my e-mail address are zeroes.
Love this site. I was able to catch you guys at the Gathering of the Clans Festival at Ardenwood. Had a blast. I working on posting some photos I took (nikicruz.com). Wish you the best. Keep it up
Regarding the battles at Calaveras....Ha! I just loved watching how wound up people got watching you guys work. "Kill him!!" they yelled. "Take his head off!" Folks get soooo into it! (It sounded like the Roman Coliseum.) And you know something else? Rib cages are such targets! And never in my life did I think I'd see REAL blood. Gee, guys you're not really supposed to hurt each other! I nearly fainted! I don't know who these presentations are harder on, you guys swinging the swords or those of us on the sidelines who support you! Hugs to you both!
The site is great, Richard!!! I am glad to see others helping to bring alive the true past.
Nontheless, a little too much Campbell influence for me. :)
See you guys soon. The Donald Lass
Morgan Ian MacCarraig (MacGregor) Born: May 1522 Place: Tigh Mor in Glen Strae Mother: Campbell Father: MacGregor
Born in 1522, Morgan was almost immediately fostered to the Campbell’s in Glen Orchy. There he was raised as one of their own, and when old enough entered service to the Laird as a man-at-arms. In 1540, Morgan left Scotland and went to France and then Germany where he served with McCulloch Campbell as a mercenary. In 1543, Morgan went back to Scotland, only to find the MacGregor’s under letters of “Sword and Fire” with charges of murder and cattle reaving. Morgan then changed his name from MacGregor to MacCarraig, and fled to Ireland. In Ireland he fell into the service of the Lord Earl Hugh O’Donnell, and quickly rose through the ranks to the rank of Captain and War Master. In 1562, The Lord O’Donnell, along with Morgan and several men-at-arms, went to Scotland with the Princess O’Brien, and her retainers, to seek assistance from her cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots. In Scotland, after losing most of his men to an O’Neil ambush as they left Ireland, Morgan contacted his Campbell family, and garnered the assistance of Diarmid Campbell and Filan MacLelland, another foster son of the Campbell’s, for the protection of the Princess. Now in 1562, Morgan travels in the company of the Princess, with his Clan Brothers, Dairmid and Filan, for her protection, and to seek help for his new family, the O’Donnell’s.
Marvelous job putting this web site together. The combination of history and fantasy come alive! Keep up the good work. See you at Calaveras.
I want to thank you and commend you for the work you do. You bring a wonderful and magical story to life. You help people to really embrace their culture and history. Your presentation did transport me back into time from whence I came. Blessings
I find this site both educational and emotional. I was deeply touched by the poetry. Specifically, "Standing Stones" and "Time's Relentless Sentence". The photo's are good but a bit dark. I shall endeavor to attend the 2/17/01 event at The Kings Head Pub. I should like to thank your group, ahead of time, for this glimpse of a culture we would otherwise not experience. One impression remains clear of this site (and re-inactments as well) is the honor displayed. Your venture here may yet bring more than just a remembrance of the past. It may bring honor and all its qualities to the hearts and minds of all those who watch. Planting a seed .... effecting yet another generation with the heart of your ancestors. As with most good things, this site left me wanting more. I shall return and again, I look forward to attending a performance soon.
From an Englishman to a Scot - Good on Yer! Very entertaining and your costumes look great. From one King's Head regular to another - Cheers!
A singing clash of steel, and firey Scottish eyes, all honor at stake. Echoes from the ancient ones, evoke a code now gone. But when sword meets sword, We are all avenged!
(Tis a most exciting spectacle! And no one dies. If you haven't seen this dynamic duo duel -- you've missed a visit to a past just beyond our reach!)
the Re-enactment of the duels stays in your memory for days. Something that you want to share with your friends.
A site as nicely done as are Your 'Battles'

This is a quick note to let you know that I feel you two are the greatest thing to come to the Scottish Community in a very long time. So many of us at the Games try to teach Scotland’s history. I do it in front of the Buchanan tent and use six great claymores as the foundation of the lessons. I will answer any question anyone cares to ask and most often, those questions are on exactly what you two gentlemen present to the public. Specifically, what it truly means to be of Highland blood. You can’t image my untold delight to have people I have just lectured watch you work. Time turns back for them. For a brief period they are in the Scottish Highlands, circa 1306. By striving for so high a level of authenticity, you both teach without trying. By example alone, you fill a badly needed place; the education of the ever burgeoning throngs of people looking back across the ocean to their ancestral beginnings. Keep up the incredible work, gentlemen. Aye yours. Cynthia Philippi, Clan Buchanan Society International.
Looks great, do you mind if I put a link in from my personal website?
It made the hairs on the back of my neck rise up in empathy.

It is with a tear in me heart that I look upon the engravings showing ye among the blessed emerald hills of the South Bay. I've been shanghaied by pirates and now reside in Portlandia.
